About Zaytuna Knowledge

Zaytuna Knowledge started with a passion for real, street-level, colloquial Arabic – the kind you hear in markets, family meetings, and conversations in Amman and Palestinian cities.

Our team? A bunch of locals who've been teaching Arabic to everyone from international aid workers to adventure-seeking language lovers. We've spent years figuring out how to make Palestinian and Jordanian feel like a living, breathing language. We know how to help you speak like you've been hanging out in local cafes for years. We are proud to say that our students get the best feedbacks about pronunciation and understanding local slang.

Zaytuna means "olive" in Arabic – a symbol of roots, resilience, and peace. Just like that olive tree, we're all about growing, connecting, and sharing the incredible richness of Palestinian and Jordanian Arabic that is understood and spoken in the whole Levantine region. Friends & Resources

Our project started with the dictionary that was provided by the Maknuune project. It is a fantastic resource for the Palestinian dialect and we are grateful for all the work that has been put into it. We hope to continue the path they started and make their knowledge ready to use for a wider audience of students.
We also want to mention PalWeb, as a great resource for learners. Their flash cards and dictionary are great to study. Also, when you get a chance to get the book "101 Most Used Verbs in Spoken Arabic" from F. Tiedemann at the CGE Jordan, it is super useful.
